GovDash reads these files to build [Shreds](/v1/docs/shreds), capability matrices, suggested capture answers and your proposal outline. Dash also uses them when you ask about the opportunity. The more complete and accurate your documents are, the better GovDash can help. Click through the interactive walkthrough below to see how it works, or follow the steps below. [Interactive walkthrough: Documents](https://govdash.navattic.com/q3i0s1u) --- ## Solicitation and Focus Documents Open the opportunity and select **Documents** under **OPPORTUNITY** in the side panel. Documents are split into tabs at the top of the table: - **Solicitation**: official files from the customer, like the RFP, PWS or SOW, amendments, attachments and Q&A responses. - **Focus**: your own files about how you plan to respond, like strategy notes, past performance examples and reference material. Files attached to notes or capture questions also show up here. Focus documents shape the content GovDash writes, but not the structure of your proposal. - **Prior Solicitation**: only shows when the opportunity was added from a forecast. It holds the documents GovDash imported from the earlier solicitation. ![Documents tab with the Documents side panel item, Solicitation and Focus tabs, Attach Documents button and SharePoint Folder Sync highlighted](https://cdn.us.document360.io/104c3542-bffe-46a6-901f-aa7a848851a4/Images/Documentation/dc_main2.png) ![Focus tab showing an internal Industry Day notes document](https://cdn.us.document360.io/104c3542-bffe-46a6-901f-aa7a848851a4/Images/Documentation/dc_focus.png) --- ## Uploading Documents Open the **Solicitation** or **Focus** tab, depending on the type of file, then: 1. Select **Attach Documents**. 2. Drop your files in the window, or select **Choose files**. You can also use the **SharePoint** or **Google Drive** tabs. You can add up to 100 files at a time, up to 500MB. 3. Select **Continue**. 4. In **Review & Confirm**, mark each file **U** or **CUI**, or use **Classify all** to mark them all at once. 5. Select **Confirm**. ![Attach Documents window with the Upload, SharePoint and Google Drive tabs highlighted](https://cdn.us.document360.io/104c3542-bffe-46a6-901f-aa7a848851a4/Images/Documentation/dc_attach.png) ![Review and Confirm step with the U and CUI classification buttons highlighted](https://cdn.us.document360.io/104c3542-bffe-46a6-901f-aa7a848851a4/Images/Documentation/dc_tag.png) GovDash processes each file and sets its **Status** to **Finalized** when it is ready to use. --- ## Checking Document Types and Tags GovDash suggests a **Type** for every file, like **RFP**, **PWS** or **Amendment**. The type tells GovDash how to use the file, so check it after you upload. Select the **Type** cell to add or change types. ![Type list opened from a document row with Amendment selected](https://cdn.us.document360.io/104c3542-bffe-46a6-901f-aa7a848851a4/Images/Documentation/dc_type.png) Select **Add Tags** in a row to tag a document so your team can find it later. --- ## Finding and Managing Documents Use the search icon and the **File Type**, **Status**, **Type**, **Classification** and **Tags** filters to narrow the list. Select the menu at the end of a row to **Edit Nickname** or **Delete Document**. A nickname changes how the file name shows in GovDash. ![Document row menu with Edit Nickname and Delete Document](https://cdn.us.document360.io/104c3542-bffe-46a6-901f-aa7a848851a4/Images/Documentation/dc_menu.png) Select **Customize** to switch the **Pagination Mode** between **Table** and **Infinite**, and to choose which **Columns** show. Select **Reset** to go back to the default columns. ![Customize menu with Pagination Mode and Columns](https://cdn.us.document360.io/104c3542-bffe-46a6-901f-aa7a848851a4/Images/Documentation/dc_cust.png) --- ## Linking a SharePoint Folder Link a SharePoint folder to an opportunity so GovDash can spot new and removed files in that folder for you. 1. Select **Link SharePoint Folder** in the **SharePoint Folder Sync** card at the bottom of the tab. 2. Pick your Microsoft tenant and go to the folder you want. 3. To import recommended files automatically, turn on **Auto-accept recommended documents** and select a classification for the files. 4. Select **Link Selected Folder**. ![Link SharePoint Folder window with Auto-accept recommended documents and Team access highlighted](https://cdn.us.document360.io/104c3542-bffe-46a6-901f-aa7a848851a4/Images/Documentation/dc_sp.png) Auto-accept applies one classification to every file it imports. If files in the folder need different classifications, leave it off and review each change yourself. ### Reviewing SharePoint Changes When files are added to or removed from a linked folder, the **Documents** tab shows how many changes are pending. Select **Review** to open **SharePoint Document Changes**, then approve or deny each change, or use **Approve All** or **Deny All**. For a file that was **Deleted from SharePoint**, you can choose **Keep in GovDash**. ### Recommended Document Types Auto-accept only imports these document types. Other files wait for you to approve them. - RFP, RFI, RFQ and Sources Sought - PWS, SOW and Statement of Objectives - ITO and Task Order - Amendment - Questionnaire and Government QA Responses - Wage Determinations and Level of Effort --- ### FAQ #### Which tab should I upload a document to? Upload official files from the customer, like the RFP, amendments and Q&A responses, to **Solicitation**. Upload your own strategy notes, past performance examples and reference material to **Focus**. #### Can I delete a document after uploading it? Yes. Select the menu at the end of the document's row, then select **Delete Document**. #### What happens when the solicitation is amended? Upload the amendment to the **Solicitation** tab and check that its **Type** is **Amendment**. If you link a SharePoint folder, GovDash flags new files in that folder for you to review. #### Where did Shreds go? Shreds now has its own article. See [Shreds](/v1/docs/shreds). ## Related - [Adding Opportunities to the Pipeline](/adding-opportunities-to-the-pipeline.md) - [Transitioning Opportunities to Proposal](/transitioning-opportunities-to-proposal-cloud.md)
