Versions vs. Snapshots
Versions and Snapshots help you manage your outline and proposals within GovDash, making it easy to track changes, restore from previous versions, and more.
A Version is created when you generate your proposal, either in full or partial regeneration. These are tracked on the Versions tab, and reverting to a previous version will fully revert the outline to the state of the generated proposal.
Snapshots are similar, but are automatically created 30 minutes after an outline modification is recorded (such as moving, renaming, or deleting sections, changing page counts, section types, and more), and each version can contain multiple snapshots.
Versions
The Versions tab provides you with all of your generated proposal versions with the time and date that they were last generated, their current status, and who was the last person to generate the proposal. Your current version will always be indicated by the Latest Generated Proposal badge, as shown below.
Each time you generate a proposal, a new version will be created. You can rename your versions any time you’d like by clicking on the version Title, making your change, and selecting the blue checkmark to save.
You can revert back to previous versions of your proposal outline by clicking on the action menu of your proposal version, and selecting Revert.
Please Note
Reverting back to a previous version of your outline will only restore the outline version. This will not restore solicitation packages, Focus Document selections, or any data within the Solution tab.
Uploading Your Submitted Proposal Version
Once you’ve submitted your proposal to the customer, you can upload that version to GovDash and it will display within the versions table with the Submitted Proposal badge. To upload, simply click the Upload Final Proposal button on the Versions page.
Snapshots
Snapshots are automatically saved versions of your proposal outline that capture its state every 30 minutes after the most recent edit. If you make changes during that window, the 30-minute timer resets, ensuring that each snapshot reflects meaningful updates, not just idle time.
Think of it like Google Docs version history, but built specifically for your GovDash proposal outlines.
You can access Snapshots from the More menu at the top of the Outline tab, or from the Versions tab of your proposal.
To revert to a previous snapshot, simply click Revert in the Snapshots window to restore to a previous snapshot. You can always restore to the current snapshot easily from the same window.
How many snapshots can be recorded per version?
There are a maximum of 10 snapshots per version. If another snapshot is created within your current version that already has 10 snapshots, the oldest snapshot will be overwritten with the new snapshot.
