Overview
If you're finding yourself needing to generate non-proposal content such as quality control plans, quality management plans, and capability statements, Custom Documents can help.
Custom Documents brings the power of GovDash to content that isn't structured like a traditional proposal solicitation. It utilizes your full Data Library (along with documents that you provide) to quickly generate fully exportable Word documents, without needing to use ChatGPT.
Accessing Custom Documents
There are multiple ways to access Custom Documents in GovDash:
Click the Quick Create button at the top of the GovDash navigation bar, and then Custom Document from the list that appears.
Click Custom Docs from the navigation bar in GovDash.
On any page within GovDash, click the Universal Assistant icon.
You can begin asking the Universal Assistant to create your document using the steps below.
Creating and Editing Custom Documents
Using the chat box at the bottom right corner of the page, you can ask GovDash to create your document. By default, GovDash will auto-select the best context to use for your request, but there are multiple controls at your disposal to control the context GovDash has with your request.
Using the + button located in the chat box, you can attach documents from your computer, or choose to include your Data Library documents. This will limit the scope of GovDash’s context to just your uploaded/selected documents.
Once GovDash has processed your request and provided you with a reply, you can send follow up messages to iterate on the document. You can choose to have GovDash reattempt your request if you did not like the reply by using the Try Again button.
At any point you can move the reply that GovDash has given you into the custom documents editor, called the canvas editor, by clicking the icon under the response.
Once inside the canvas editor, you can make any change you’d like to your document using the editor controls for styling, bulleted or numbered lists, and tables.
You can continue to use the GovDash assistant chat box to make changes to your document, and when you’re ready to overwrite your current document, simply click the Edit in canvas button to move the reply over to the canvas editor.
Downloading Custom Documents
After you're satisfied with your custom document within GovDash, you can export the full document in Microsoft Word format by clicking the Export Word button in the canvas editor.
Word Assistant Tips
Once your document has finished downloading, you can then use the GovDash Word Assistant to make any finishing touches you'd like to the document. Learn more about the Word Assistant in our guide here.
Custom Documents History
GovDash keeps a record of your previous Custom Documents requests, which allows you to quickly pull up previous chats that you've had. To access this history, click chat history icon in the top left of the chat window.
History is kept indefinitely, so you will always have your previous requests at a moment's notice!
Clicking on the chat within the list will populate the chat window with all follow up questions/refinements, and then you can continue working on the most recent request by moving GovDash’s response to the canvas editor.
At any point, you can also create a new custom document request by clicking the + Chat button in the top right.
